Seminar content: This seminar provides knowledge on the use and administration of the DFSMSrmm tape management system . In addition, aspects of data protection for data on tape are highlighted. Group work and detailed practical exercises with discussion of the solutions are used to deepen the knowledge gained.

  • Overview DFSMSrmm and Tape Management
  • ISPF Interface of DFSMSrmm for use by administrators and end users.
  • Housekeeping (daily administration) with EDGHSKP
  • Operator commands
  • Reporting
  • Basic settings in EDGRMMxx Member
  • Control the degradation of tape files and tape volumes with Vital Record Specifications (VRS)
  • Maintenance of the DFSMSrmm Control Data Set (CDS) and the journal file.
  • Recovery of the DFSMSrmm CDS
  • Interaction between DFSMSrmm and DFSMShsm
  • Interaction between DFSMSrmm and RACF
  • Tape Security (protection of data on tape)
  • Protection and control of functions of DFSMSrmm with the help of RACF
