z/OS - Introduction to ISPF and Job Control Language (JCL)

In this seminar, participants receive a sound introduction to the basics of z/OS, ISPF dialog processing and Job Control Language (JCL). They will learn how to set up a TSO session and how to work with ISPF panels. Important standard components such as EDIT, VIEW, BROWSE and UTILITIES are also covered. At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to use ISPF, manage files and code basic JCL statements to control jobs in a z/OS environment.

Practical exercises reinforce what has been learned and make it directly applicable.

Focal points:

  • Overview z/OS & ISPF:
    Introduction to z/OS, ISPF dialogs, menus and panels.
  • File management:
    Create, edit and manage files, including PDS/PDSE.
  • TSO Commands & Utilities:
    Use of LIST, LOG, MOVE, COPY and other commands for file management.
  • JCL basics:
    syntax, job description, step and DD definition, file chaining, SMS parameters.
  • Procedures & IBM Utilities:
    Working with procedures and an overview of utilities such as SORT and GDG.

    Procedure

    Our courses and workshops can be booked flexibly as remoteor on-site training directly at your company. The prices listed below refer to both of these variants; onsite is charged plus travel costs. On-site training courses offer the advantage that we can focus specifically on your IT infrastructure and develop practical solutions together with your employees.

    In-house training in our or external premises in Munich is only available on request. Please note that different conditions apply - we will be happy to inform you of these if you are interested.

    A special service: We conduct our training courses for as few as one participant.

    Number of participants 1:

    The coursecan be booked as an individual training course from € 3,295.
    An additional travel fee of € 1,250 applies for training courses at your premises (onsite). Any external room costs incurred will be charged separately.

    Number of participants 2-5:

    For groups of 2 to 5 participants, the all-inclusive price is€6,090.
    An additional travel fee of €1,250 is charged for training courses held on your premises (onsite). Any external room costs incurred will be charged separately.

    Number of participants 6-10:

    Prices for larger groups of 6 or more participants are availableon request at .
    A flat-rate travel fee of €1,250 is also charged for on-site training. Any external room costs incurred will be shown separately.
