Control-M/R for z/OS – Advanced Functions I

This course builds on the CONTROL-M/R fundamentals course and deepens knowledge of the advanced functions of CONTROL-M and CONTROL-M/Restart (CONTROL-R). Participants gain insights into the internal structure of the system, installation parameters, and the day-end processing cycle. Enhanced scheduling and simulations are explained through hands-on exercises. Participants also learn about the available utilities and how CONTROL-M/R is integrated into the IOA family. The course is rounded off with guidance on cross-platform scheduling with Control-M/Enterprise Manager​.

Through practice-oriented exercises, which make up 50% of the course, participants consolidate their knowledge and are equipped to make optimal use of the advanced functions of CONTROL-M and CONTROL-R.

  • Administration & day-end processing:
    Managing the day-end cycle and temporary submit libraries.
  • Advanced scheduling:
    SMART Tables, Rule-Based Calendar (RBC), DO FORCEJOB, and linked scheduling criteria.
  • Job control & Auto-Edit:
    End User Job Order Interface and advanced Auto-Edit variables.
  • Simulation & control:
    Simulating job runs, MAY BE Conditions, CONTROL-R control cards, and CMEM.
  • Utilities:
    Key IOA & CONTROL-M utilities.
