z/OS – Introduction to ISPF and Job Control Language (JCL)

ISPF/PDF dialog processing, and Job Control Language (JCL). They learn about the structure of a TSO session and how to work with ISPF/PDF panels. Key standard components such as EDIT, VIEW, BROWSE, and UTILITIES are also covered. By the end of the course, participants are able to use ISPF dialogs, manage files, and code basic JCL statements to control jobs in a z/OS environment​.

Through practical exercises, the knowledge gained is deepened and made directly applicable.

Key topics:

  • z/OS & ISPF overview:
    Introduction to z/OS, TSO/ISPF dialogs, menus, and panels.
  • File management:
    Creating, editing, and managing files, including PDS/PDSE.
  • TSO commands & utilities:
    Using LIST, LOG, MOVE, COPY, and other commands for file management.
  • JCL fundamentals:
    Syntax, job description, step and DD definition, file concatenation, SMS parameters.
  • Procedures & IBM utilities:
    Working with procedures and overview of utilities such as SORT and GDG.

Participant 1:
This course is available as individual training from 3.295 €.
For on-site training at your premises, an additional flat travel fee of €1,250 applies. Any external venue costs will be charged separately.

Participants 2-5:
For groups of 2 to 5 participants, the flat-rate price is 6.090 €.
For on-site training at your premises, an additional flat travel fee of €1,250 applies. Any external venue costs will be charged separately.

Participants 6-10:
Pricing for larger groups of 6 or more participants is available on request.
For on-site training at your premises, an additional flat travel fee of €1,250 applies. Any external venue costs will be charged separately.
